Fri Mar 2 2007Microsoft Office 2007 Licensing
Important Note!

Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom, are no longer supplying media with Office 2007 OEM licenses.  What this means is that when you order Microsoft Office 2007 OEM with a system, you get a lovely empty DVD case with a Certificate of Authenticity sticker on the cover.

We are often asked by customers whether they will receive the media for their software with their PC, and we've always strongly said yes, as we believe to supply any software without media is highly suspicious and should always be raised into question.

This is why I'm making a public statement here for just how incredulously stupid this new Office 2007 OEM policy is. Please do not be angry at us.  We're not stealing your CDs/DVDs.  We actually had to buy our own master CD kit to install Office on to systems (since no media is supplied, at all), and we're not even allowed to distribute these to end users. All in all, it seems like a nasty cash grab by Microsoft against poor consumers who think they've lost their media and will simply "buy another" when it comes time to reinstall.  Horrible.

Windows XP, Vista, and previous versions of Office all come with media.  This policy currently only affects Office 2007 OEM, and we will announce any changes with other products.
