| Just to let everybody know of some upcoming changes to SecretNet. A couple of months ago, I was approached by a friend at Skype Technologies about a developer position on the Linux platform. Being a programmer at heart and a Skype user, I applied for the position. (This is the first position I have ever applied for :P). Needless to say, things have progressed and I have been invited to work there, in Tallinn, Estonia, from mid-August this year. I will retain my position as Partner and Manager of SecretNet, however I will no longer be actively involved in the day-to-day warehouse operations. These have been handed over to other staff over the last month, and things have already been going on behind the scenes to reorganise SecretNet to accommodate my absence from the warehouse. We'd actually been planning to make SecretNet less dependant on me, day to day, for the last 6 months. At the moment, I am still handling the bulk of e-mails, however with our new e-mail tracking system now online, this will also begin to be handled by other staff. The benefit of this system is that all our staff will have access to the complete thread of messages related to any order, as well as being able to compose a reply online, and get replies out in a timely fashion. Just be sure to address any new messages to computers@secret.com.au (if you're not replying to an existing message) instead of writing it to my personal address. There are bound to be a few teething issues over the next fortnight, and although I don't expect any major problems, I do beg for your patience whilst everybody gets comfortable in their new positions. I will still keep an active eye on the business remotely and you'll still likely see me doing news and even an e-mail or two from time to time. |
